Trip Informations
Travel to Borneo on this nine-day family adventure and discover the curious wildlife and spectacular landscapes of the region. Learn how orphaned orangutans are rehabilitated back into the wild, have a go at stand-up paddleboarding and watch baby green turtles take wobbly steps towards the waterfront. Along the way, you'll make friends, try some delicious cuisine and forge some incredible memories. With all the essentials included and plenty of free time to explore at your own pace, you and your family will fall in love with the unique animals, lush ecosystem and sandy islands of Borneo.
Why you’ll love this trip
Walk along the scenic canopy walkway at Poring Hot Springs, followed by a refreshing dip in the natural waters. Then, spend the night at a tea plantation.
Stay among the birds and beasts of the jungle, right next to an oxbow lake, at Kinabatangan Eco Camp and fall asleep to the sounds of cicadas.
Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and, if you're lucky, watch baby orangutans learn to swing in a special enclosure.
Cruise along Kinabatangan River at sunset, looking out for macaques, wild orangutan and proboscis monkeys.
Watch protected turtle hatchlings scatter across the beach to the water under the cover of night – this is a special opportunity to see baby turtles in their natural habitat, but make sure you listen to your guides as this is a sensitive and fragile area!
Is this trip right for you?

An unforgettable trip with an excellent mix of wildlife, culture, and adventure. Highlights included the interactive village day, the incredible Turtle Island experience, and SUP boarding in KK. Seeing wildlife in its natural habitat along the Kinabatangan River was truly special. Chichi was fantastic throughout - an amazing leader who handled our large group brilliantly, connected with the kids, and constantly went above and beyond

The Borneo Family Holiday is recommended, particularly if you're lucky enough to have Hirzan as your guide. Highlights included Turtle Island, the jungle along the Kinabatangan River and the Sabah Tea longhouse and getting to see a Rafflasia in bloom.

We loved our trip to Borneo! The variety of activities was impressive, including some we might not have initially chosen but ended up enjoying. Our guide, Ben, was fantastic—knowledgeable and friendly. Traveling with our 10-year-old and two teenagers, we found that there was something appealing for everyone.

We’ve just finished our very first Intrepid adventure as a family of five, two adults and three kids aged 9, 7 and 5. And we are feeling sad it is over. Travelling with young kids can sometimes feel overwhelming, but this trip reminded us just how magical it can be. From watching orangutans in the wild to seeing sea turtles, we shared moments together that we’ll remeber for the rest of our lives. One of the best parts was having an incredible Intrepid leader who took care of all the planning and logistics, allowing us to simply enjoy the adventure. We also met the most wonderful group of like-minded families, all understanding and having patience with kids and it was so special watching our kids make new friends. If you’ve ever thought about travelling as a family but wondered if it was worth it, this is your sign. We couldn’t recommend an Intrepid family trip more highly. The memories we made are truly priceless, and we’re already dreaming about our next adventure.

Our Intrepid Borneo trip was unforgettable. Watching a mother turtle lay her eggs was a true highlight. From orangutans to river safaris, every moment felt meaningful. The guides were exceptional, generous, and deeply connected to their country. A powerful mix of adventure and perspective we’ll never forget.
