Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Walk past the scenic hills, shimmering lakes and marble palaces of Udaipur – India’s most romantic city.
Keep your adrenaline charged with an evening tiger-spotting safari through the jungles of Ranthambhore – one of India's best known national parks.
Visit locals in their home on the border of sacred Pushkar Lake and the Thar Desert – share a meal together and gain insight into local life.
Snap a pic of the Taj Mahal – the incredible monument in Agra and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – then explore the Red Fort.
Soak in India’s changing landscapes and travel like a local with rail travel – by choosing trains to get around, you’ll be giving yourself the best opportunity for local interaction, at a more relaxed pace.
Is this trip right for you?
While there is no guarantee you will see a tiger during your safari in Ranthambhore, you may have a chance to see a variety of other wildlife, including hyenas, jackals, deer, langurs, marsh crocodiles, wild boars and birdlife.
Make sure your luggage is light and compact enough to be carried up and down multiple flights of stairs.
There are several long travel days on this trip. Some journeys take 6 to 8 hours but are a great opportunity to get to know locals, fellow travellers, and the diverse scenery. We are covering a lot of this vast country during the trip, so the journey is all part of the India experience.
Prepare for hot and sticky temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening, particularly in the desert. Layers are one of the best ways to tackle this disparity in weather.
We visit several temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
We've sourced our accommodation carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from western standards.
Itinerary
Explore Rajasthan on an adventure through northern India
The scenic and energetic northern state of Rajasthan is awash with all the colours of India. On this 15-day journey, you’ll learn the history of massive forts, witness the opulence of Maharajahs' palaces and stroll through local markets, all with a local leader by your side to give you the inside scoop. Search for the elusive Bengal tiger, enjoy a shared meal with a family in Pushkar, spend a night in the desert, soak up the natural beauty of vast, shimmering lakes and tick a Wonder of the World off your bucket list – starting and ending in thriving Delhi.

Intrepid's Classis Rajasthan Tour was above and beyond my expectations. This has been a trip I have dreamt of doing for many, many years and I was not disappointed. Excellent organisation which also gives back to local communities through locally run projects with environmental approaches. Made a journey that may have been far more daunting as an independent traveller and absolute joy and in turn gave the opportunity to experience far more than I may have done without Intrepid's support. Surya was an absolutely amazing guide and I would highly recommend any tour led by him. Five Stars all round.

I highly recommend Intrepid Travel. I had an amazing time in India. I hadn't done much traveling before, so decided on a group trip and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. The our leader Parik, was highly organized and knowledgeable, had a great sense of humour and made sure we were well looked after. I met some fantastic people on the tour, who were very helpful and encouraging. If you've ever thought about doing an Intrepid Tour, do it, you won't regret it!

Brilliant itinerary and tour guide - beyond our expectations. Couldn't help falling in love with the forts, palaces, dramatic history, delicious food, divine decorative arts, stunning heritage property stays, rich culture and rugged landscapes......haven't even mentioned the tigers we spied, or the majesty of the Taj Mahal.

I loved everything about this trip the small villages we went to being a highlight. Intrepid didn’t disappoint with their environmental and community support beliefs. It was very well organised and our tour leader Parik was knowledgeable, approachable and fun.

The trip was an excellent way to immerse yourself in mind blowing beautiful Rajasthan and a good mix of big cities, tourist spots and off the beaten path adventures. A great way to travel as a solo female, I experienced so much that I wouldn’t have on my own. It took all the stress out of travelling and was really well organised. Our leader Parik was absolutely amazing. Everything flowed smoothly and he worked so hard to ensure we had the best possible experience and shared a wealth of knowledge about Indian culture and history. Accommodations were mostly good (I had low expectations so most were a pleasant surprise!) and some really interesting and unique places to stay too. And of course the food was incredible!

This is the perfect trip round Rajasthan! You see all of the main sites as well as some more rural villages, the accommodation is so beautiful and the food/culture is beyond words. We had an amazing guide (Arpita) and a lovely group! Transport is all arranged seamlessly and the trains were so much fun!
