Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
Walk past the scenic hills, shimmering lakes and marble palaces of Udaipur – India’s most romantic city.
Keep your adrenaline charged with an evening tiger-spotting safari through the jungles of Ranthambhore – one of India's best known national parks.
Visit locals in their home on the border of sacred Pushkar Lake and the Thar Desert – share a meal together and gain insight into local life.
Snap a pic of the Taj Mahal – the incredible monument in Agra and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – then explore the Red Fort.
Soak in India’s changing landscapes and travel like a local with rail travel – by choosing trains to get around, you’ll be giving yourself the best opportunity for local interaction, at a more relaxed pace.
Is this trip right for you?
While there is no guarantee you will see a tiger during your safari in Ranthambhore, you may have a chance to see a variety of other wildlife, including hyenas, jackals, deer, langurs, marsh crocodiles, wild boars and birdlife.
Make sure your luggage is light and compact enough to be carried up and down multiple flights of stairs.
There are several long travel days on this trip. Some journeys take 6 to 8 hours but are a great opportunity to get to know locals, fellow travellers, and the diverse scenery. We are covering a lot of this vast country during the trip, so the journey is all part of the India experience.
Prepare for hot and sticky temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening, particularly in the desert. Layers are one of the best ways to tackle this disparity in weather.
We visit several temples on this trip, which requires a certain level of modesty. Please bring clothes that cover the arms and pants/skirts that go past the knees. A light scarf is also a good idea for covering shoulders and arms when it’s hot.
We've sourced our accommodation carefully and picked the best possible hotels in line with the Tuuur style of travel. Service and accommodation in India may be different from western standards.
Itinerary
Explore Rajasthan on an adventure through northern India
The scenic and energetic northern state of Rajasthan is awash with all the colours of India. On this 15-day journey, you’ll learn the history of massive forts, witness the opulence of Maharajahs' palaces and stroll through local markets, all with a local leader by your side to give you the inside scoop. Search for the elusive Bengal tiger, enjoy a shared meal with a family in Pushkar, spend a night in the desert, soak up the natural beauty of vast, shimmering lakes and tick a Wonder of the World off your bucket list – starting and ending in thriving Delhi.

This tour covered all paces - Wouldn't spend any extra time at opening hotel if it's Hotel Cabana location and restaurants weren't great - Delhi to Ranthambore were at a fast pace always moving doing things then the tour slows down with you mostly eating meals at the Heritage stays which I felt limited by; others enjoyed the downtown comes down to personal choice. Please also note there is no guarantee you will see a tiger at Ranthambhore National Park. Had a great time with a great group just would of preferred more interaction time with locals and businesses in country areas

The Classic Rajasthan exceeded my expectations by far and was well led by our group leader Palak Datta. I learnt a lot and most of all appreciated this very unique country and the Rajasthan region with its diversity. My knowledge and appreciation for the people, culture and society and food increased tremendously due to the itinerary that provided an incredible diversity of locations, transport, accommodation and connections with the people. And due to the knowledge, curiosity and willingness to share in a genuine and caring way of Palak Datta, dealing with all of our questions, small or big, fun or controversial. This is what I appreciated most about this experience.
