Trip Informations
Uncover the very best of East Africa on this 10-day journey from Nairobi, Kenya. Travel to some of the country’s most famous areas including the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, where you'll take multiple game drives in search of the Big Five animals and more. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, impalas, wildebeest, leopards, giraffes, antelope and varied birdlife. Take in the enormity of Africa's largest lake and spend time with the local Maasai warriors and Hadzabe people to learn about their ancient traditions and modern way of life from an elder in the communities. Is this trip right for you?
verified
No two journeys in Africa are identical. Be prepared for travel times to be longer or shorter than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, and unforgettable moments along the way.
verified
Staying in a permanent tented camp in the Serengeti National Park, with no barriers between you and the animals, is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader.
verified
This is a 4WD overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in 4WD vehicles, visiting remote communities and world-renowned wildlife parks. The drive days can be long, but it’s as much about the journey as the destination, and half the fun is the camaraderie.
verified
There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.
verified
The day-to-day itinerary features a selection of optional activities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is intended only as a guide. Prices are approximate and may change at the discretion of the local provider. All activities are subject to availability.

Intrepid East Africa highlights trip was well organised, the tour guides knowledge was excellent and the animals we saw were beyond incredible: the great migration inc wildebeest and zebra, lions, cheetah, many types of buck, monkeys etc etc… Great value for money and we visited tribes that would be inaccessible otherwise. Great group of people, very enjoyable.

East Africa Highlights - May 2026
An excellent, fast-paced and well organised holiday. Intrepid certainly add little touches which added to the experience. Whilst game drives are a lottery, we saw a cheetah within minutes in the Mara. In Serengeti, tree-climbing lions. Overall, a well-organised and super trip, led by Steve and with outstanding driver/guides. Lots of loo stops, lots of shopping opportunities. Now off to Zanzibar for a rest!

Intrepid was safe and reliable. The team was helpful and prompt with responses and questions. The tour was amazing! A genuine kindness and eagerness was felt across all the staff. The enthusiasm and knowledge of the guide Joseph and drivers Patrick and Elijah was wonderful and impressive. We felt very welcome and privileged to experience their country and culture. They became good friends throughout the trip. The whole safari experience was magical. We saw lots of animals and some spectacular events. There is a fair bit of driving and mud to navigate during the wet season, but it's all part of the experience! I'd definitely recommend this tour!

The itinerary is a great mix of wildlife and culture. The tour leader Joseph was such a great leader and couldn't recommend him enough along with the driver guides Patrick, Ellie, Emanuel and Ololi. They went out of their way to make this trip the best with their incredible knowledge of the animals, culture and countries and they really made the trip one to remember.
