Trip Informations
Why you’ll love this trip
With so much going on in the chaotic capital of Delhi, a local leader is a must. Get to know the city with your leader helping you navigate.
Have your expectations smashed by the spectacular Taj Mahal during a guided tour that illuminates the building’s fascinating back story.
Spend sunrise along the holy Ganges River in Varanasi, watching thousands of Hindu pilgrims bathe in the water as the sun soaks everything in warm light.
Tordi Garh is a place few travellers get to see, but you’ll stay in this rural Rajasthani village in style during a night at a 16th-century palace.
Travelling across India wouldn’t be complete without a journey on a sleeper train. With padded bunks for comfort and vendors selling chai and samosas, it’s a quintessential Indian experience.
Is this trip right for you?
This is a trip made for travellers who value their independence but also want the benefit of a local leader and a group of like-minded travellers. The itinerary has a mix of included activities and free time where your leader will offer suggestions you can take or leave. Please budget spending money for optional activities.
The regions visited on this trip can be extreme in temperature. It’s important to prepare for hot temperatures during the day and cooler climates in the evening. Rajasthan, in particular, can be very hot, especially in the summer. Light layers are the best way to tackle changeable weather.
Part of travelling with Tuuur means respecting local cultures and sensibilities. That way you get the most out of your interactions with local people and environments. For temple visits on this trip, you will need to wear clothes that cover the arms and pants or skirts that go past the knees.
This trip involves some long train rides, including a couple of overnight trains. The train journeys from Delhi to Varanasi and Varanasi to Agra are is approximately 13 hours each. Sleeper trains are clean and air-conditioned and a great way to travel long distances while still getting maximum time in each place. Beds are padded berths with sheets, pillow and blanket provided (although some people prefer to bring their own sleeping sheet). Please note that you may be sharing with locals of other genders. For your own security, take a lock for your hand luggage. Sleeper train journeys in and out of Varanasi can be subject to long delays because of weather conditions, including heavy rain or fog. Fantastic trip taking in Northern India. The trip was well organised from start to finish with safety foremost. The itinerary was well thought out with Varanasi a highlight. The tour leader was approachable, caring and empathetic whose knowledge and approach made the trip very special for us all.

This was my first experience of group travel and was definitely the right choice for my first trip to India. Our group was made up of people from all over the world, all keen to experience the real India which this tour definitely gives you. It was a fast-paced trip covering 5 different places with little time for reflection but crammed in some truly memorable activities that will stay with me forever. Our tour leader Alka was great fun, full of energy and enthusiasm and responded well to the requests and demands of the group, always mindful of our safety and well-being. This trip is a must for anyone wanting to experience an authentic and immersive tour of this part of India.

This is a great introduction to India. Varanasi is not one to be missed in the Golden Triangle. My tour guide, Reetika, was fabulous. I would recommend to someone considering this tour if they are prepared to tackle the chaos head on.

An unforgettable journey through India, from the breathtaking Taj Mahal to the spiritual calm of Varanasi and the sacred Ganges. Every day felt meaningful and eye-opening. The culture, colours, and kindness of the people left a lasting impression and gave me the confidence to keep exploring this incredible country.

The Indian Getaway tour was a great adventure. It is the first time i have joined a group tour in a country for such a long period and am delighted I did so. As a solo traveller I think India would have got the better of me without a tour guide !!! Abhi was an amazing tour leader. He has a very calming presence in a crazy country ! I never seen Abhi get stressed or bothered once which in turn sends a signal out to the group that all is good ! A really nice person and all of the group felt very lucky to have a great guy like Abhi as our tour leader. I would highly recommend this intrepid tour. Tom , Ireland 🇮🇪
