The Sahara Camp is on the edge of the desert. In 2019, the Moroccan government put measures in place to improve the safety, quality and impact of desert camps, which means that camping inside the Erg Chebbi dunes is no longer possible.

Several days include a great deal of time spent on your feet, particularly Day 5 (Fes) and Day 9 (M’Goun Valley). A moderate level of fitness and comfortable walking shoes will ensure you get the most out of your trip.

Morocco has a tipping culture and travellers are expected to tip small amounts for most services. Your trip leader and the Money Matters section of the Essential Trip Information can assist you with this.

Although you shouldn’t expect any aggressive selling techniques in Morocco, it’s common to be approached by shop owners and street vendors offering their goods.

Ramadan is an annual month-long festival, during which travel can be a rewarding cultural experience, however some regular services may not be available during the day, such as restaurants or cafes, and occasionally travel can be disrupted by events. Your leader will adjust the itinerary accordingly, but please consider this when selecting your travel dates. Our tour led by Khaled (assisted by Ahmed, our trusted driver) ended up being just a small group of 5 due to some Middle East war related cancellations. I appreciated the insights into Moroccan life (eg. dinners, lunches arranged in local homes), outstanding sights and new friendships

My husband and I truly enjoyed our Intrepid Morocco Uncovered trip. We were very well looked after by our guide Samir. He was a wealth of knowledge about his country and gave us many unique insights into Moroccan culture. Would highly recommend both the tour and our guide Samir.

What a wonderful opportunity to discover the magic of Morocco! If you enjoy a mixture of cities and country and the opportunity to really connect with Morrocan history and culture with friendly, knowledgeable local guides then this tour is for you. Riding a camel through the Sahara dunes and staying at an Atlas Mountains family guesthouse in the heart of the local village were once in a lifetime experiences.

Just say yes! This itinerary is jam-packed and requires endurance, but it is so worth it. Aziz was an incredible guide for my first Intrepid trip, he was so knowledgable and brought us into the communities of Morocco with care. I’m leaving this country feeling grateful for the people I met and the adventure that was had!

This trio exceeded my expectations. The fact that they hand choose local guides and let them choose food stops and guides made a huge difference to our trip. Everything felt very personal and unique. Accommodations exceeded expectations and I would do this trip again in a heartbeat.
