Trip Informations
Head from bustling Delhi to remote Tordi on this 13-day adventure through India and Nepal. Get down and dirty with the best street food, gape at one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Taj Mahal – cruise down the holy Ganges in Varanasi, hang in Buddha’s hometown (Lumbini), search for sloth bears and rhinos at Chitwan National Park and finish up in colourful Kathmandu. With incredibly delicious food (naan bread, anyone?), spiritual significance and culture that’s waiting to be explored, what’s your excuse for not taking the adventure of a lifetime?
Why you’ll love this trip
Ditch your alarm in the spiritual capital of Varanasi – there’s only one way to wake up here and that’s with a sunrise sail along the Ganges. Maybe indulge in some yoga or meditation after and keep the good vibes going.
See the Taj Mahal – one of the famed Seven Wonders of the World. This may be one of the most recognisable buildings on Earth, but do you know its poetic history? Don’t worry, a local expert will fill you in.
Spend some time in rural Tordi, away from the tourist trail, and stay in an 18th-century palace, enjoy a homecooked dinner from your host and explore the nearby ruined temple and fortress.
Fall asleep to the calls of the jungle in Chitwan National Park, then embark on a safari in search of rhinos, deer, monkeys, tigers and a wide array of bird life.
Indulge in Delhi-cious street food and immerse yourself in the colourful chaos of India’s capital city – from chicken tikka to vegetarian curries, your local leader will know all the best lunch and dinner spots.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip involves travel on public transport covering large distances, meaning some long travel days. Long-distance and overnight trains can often be delayed and occasionally cancelled due to heavy fog between December and February. Some patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment here. Sit back, relax and watch the scenery go by (a book or podcast won't hurt either).
Weather in India and Nepal can be very hot in summer and surprisingly cold in winter, so please pack accordingly so you aren't caught out! Check seasonal weather guides and pick a travel time that suits your comfort level.
This trip is a great way to see a lot in a short period of time and it can be part of a longer itinerary if you have more time to explore. You might like to check out Epic India to Nepal.

Had a blast on my first solo trip! Our guide Anil was fantastic. I wouldn’t have wanted to travel through the chaos of northern India any other way. Only area for improvement would be the food, which was decent and I luckily remained healthy the whole time, but it was more expensive and less authentic than the street food I would’ve eaten if not on a tour. Still had the best time though and can’t wait to go on my next trip with intrepid!

Had such a wonderful time. Was nervous about going to India as a solo female traveller but felt completely safe. The hot air balloon ride and Everest flight were particular highlights! After India, Nepal was very calming. One thing I would recommend is to bring a mask as the air pollution in Delhi, Jaipur and Varanasi is quite bad for an asthmatic. Other than that I loved every bit of my time on the trip! Met so many lovely people and made memories for life.

An unforgettable two weeks, made special by a great group of travellers and a world class tour guide. This is the perfect tour to get a taste on India and see the beauty of Nepal. I would recommend a few days in the 1st and final locations.

I really would recommend this trip to anyone who has wanted to go to India but is hesitant to travel solo. We saw and did things that would have been impossible to fit into such a small period of time and with same the level of safety had we not had a guide as competent and attentive as Deovrat.

If you are looking for a trip that includes the highlights of North India and an intro to Nepal this is a perfect choice. There is no doubt India is a chaotic place and perhaps not meant for beginner travelers, however, being with Intrepid makes you feel 10x safer, especially as a solo female. We had an excellent guide, Jay, who truly made the trip! I enjoyed Varanasi much more than I expected and highly recommend the nighttime boat ride.

Great way to see India and Nepal in a short amount of time, felt safe and worry free with a group the whole time. Ruchi was absolutely the best guide and made the experience even better! We were led through border crossings and good food options easy on the stomach hassle free. There's also plenty of opportunities for free time or optional activities depending on your energy.

The trip was fantastic. It is brilliant for experiencing everything from the hustle and bustle of the cities to the peaceful temples and parks. Our guide, Ruchi, made it an amazing experience, feeling safe, comfortable and being able to switch off and just go with the flow, opening our eyes to so much beauty.

Book the trip! An amazingly led trip, made memories to last a lifetime with an amazing group. The accommodation pleasantly surprised me considering it being a low budget trip and we saw some of the most beautiful sights in places I would never dare to visit as a solo female. Will forever be grateful for the experience and Pratibha the most amazing group leader. Highlights: Taj Mahal, Chitwan and Varanasi!
