Trip Informations
Bless the rains of East Africa on an eight-day safari adventure through Kenya and Tanzania. The famed national parks in the Serengeti, Amboseli and Ngorongoro regions are home to an astounding array of animals, from miniature dik-dik antelopes and lions to the noble African elephant. With local guides and all your needs taken care of, you’re free to spot wildlife and soak up the incredible atmosphere. Head out on several safaris in search of Africa’s iconic animals in the back of specially designed safari vehicles. Look for the endangered black rhino in Ngorongoro Crater and giant tusker elephants in Amboseli National Park. With stops at a local community in Mto wa Mbu and an immersive visit to a local coffee farm, this journey is fit for the most curious traveller, eager to meet locals and explore the fertile savannahs of East Africa.
Why you’ll love this trip
Explore the Serengeti National Park in-depth with multiple game drives through this spectacular wildlife arena. Here, you’ll have the best chance to spot iconic African animals.
Explore Amboseli National Park – home to the largest population of African elephants in Kenya and known for large tuskers and exquisite views of Mt Kilimanjaro on clear days.
Embark on an unforgettable safari across the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater in an open roof 4WD with your small group for a chance to see the endangered black rhinoceros in full view.
Visit the Naramatisho Women's Centre to meet Indigenous Maasai women and learn how the Pastoral Women's Council – a partner of The Tuuur Foundation – is empowering women and girls through education, leadership and sustainable livelihoods.
Visit a local coffee farm for a hands‑on look at how coffee is prepared. Pick ripe berries, learn traditional techniques, then share a freshly brewed cup with your host for an authentic taste of everyday life.
Is this trip right for you?
No two journeys in Africa are identical. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days. Be prepared for travel times to be longer or shorter than advised. Weather and road conditions can change things significantly, so embrace the detours, shortcuts, and unforgettable moments along the way.
This is an overland trip. That means you’ll be travelling with a group in a purpose-built vehicle, visiting remote communities, setting up your tent, occasionally roughing it in the bush with no facilities, and getting the best possible views of iconic African wildlife. For more info on this style of travel, see our Africa overland page at tuuur.com/africa/overland.
Camping in the Serengeti National Park with no barriers between you and the animals is amazing, but it's important to heed the safety advice of your leader. You'll be briefed on arrival.
The day-to-day itinerary features a selection of optional activities. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and is intended only as a guide. Prices are approximate and may change at the discretion of the local provider. All activities are subject to availability.
Some passengers will have been travelling together prior to the start of this trip. You may also want to check out The Masai Heartlands if you have more time to explore in East Africa.

We travelled as a family of five on the Serengeti Trail. The trip was packed full of great activities and a real once in a lifetime experience. A great trip for teenagers.

Brilliant healthy, tasty and good variety of food was delivered by our chef Keziah (including for vegetarians). Safe driving and impressive mechanic skills by driver Martin. The local dinner, crater and Serengiti NP just wow! Be sure to have toilet paper and head torch though. Elephant Caves optional tour not worth it - some of the larger caves have collapsed and it's an overpriced hike in my opinion. Charging points on the truck were a nice luxury and overall very well planned with quick plan changes when Africa happens. You won't be disappointed with this trip.
