Come face with one of Sri Lanka’s most storied sites as you hike to the ancient carved rock fortress of UNESCO World Heritage site – Sigiriya, which rises dramatically from the surrounding plains.
Hike through the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Knuckles Mountain Range and encounter Sri Lanka's lush scenery and amazing biodiversity. Visit the observation point ‘Mini World’s End’ and see the sheer drop into the Thelgamuwa Valley and its forest floor below.
Cycle a mostly downhill route through the green heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country in ‘the Golden Valley of Ceylon’.
Get to know the layered history of Galle during a walking tour, uncovering the city’s maze of streets, historic buildings, lighthouse and the famed 17th-century fort.
By travelling on this trip, you’ll directly support our Tuuur Foundation partner, World Bicycle Relief. Donations provide school kids, health workers, and farmers in far-out areas with bicycles that provide access to education, healthcare, and income.
Is this trip right for you?
This trip requires a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy the physical activities included.
While the activities are diverse, they are all run at a relaxed pace and do not require a high level of expertise/experience to participate in. All travellers will need to be competent swimmers to take part in the kayaking section of this trip.
The weather in this region varies seasonally. Be prepared to get sweaty, and for the occasional rainstorm which may require a change of plans. Drink plenty of water and remember a good quality hat and sun block.
Some temples on this trip require your head to be uncovered when visiting. You can opt out of temple visits if this requirement doesn't suit you.

My husband and I did the Sri Lanka Hike/Bike/Kayak tour. Altogether the group was a great mix of 12 people from multiple countries. A good level of fitness and agility is required. Accommodation included 2 nights camping as well as 6 nights in hotels. Hotels were mid range and well located with excellent staff. Our tour guide and bus drivers were fabulous. All in all a great introduction and fabulous memories in Sri Lanka.

This was a fantastic way to see Sri Lanka. I loved all aspects but particularly interacting with locals in their villages on our hike, bike and kayak was a highlight. A smile is all you need to communicate!

Completely awestruck by the beauty and intense impressions of this trip. At the same time the organization was flawless and made me feel safe and well cared for the whole time. Especially the opportunities to engage with the local people, see their ways of life and taste local food was excellent.

Hike, Bike & Kayak was an excellent introduction to Sri Lanka. The two day cycle was the perfect way to kick off the holiday and the interaction with the locals was fun. The hiking although short was challenging, culturally interesting and beautiful. The kayaking added another dimension to the tour.

I own a tour company and I have nothing but the highest praise for our guide Ku. He brought Sri Lanka to life, and what a gorgeous country it is. Smiles for us everywhere. Ku was lively, knowledgeable and treated every member of the group with respect and interest. Even when things didn’t go according to plan he was the consummate professional. Intrepid had to make changes in our itinerary at the last minute due to flooding but the itinerary was seamless. I recommend that you specifically tell your jeep driver at the elephant park that you don’t want to get too close to the animals - this is important to change the behaviour of overly aggressive jeep drivers and it has to come from us, the tourists. I loved stopping at a family home to watch them weave things. I also loved the good balance between active activities, temples and culture. Bravo Ku and Intrepid.

When they say active they mean active! This tour is full on, so be prepared. But you’ll also see a side of Sri Lanka away from the Instagram bubble. My highlights were cycling past local markets and rice fields as people stopped to wave and say hello. Also the food!

Our adventure tour of Sri Lanka, by bike, by hike, and by kayak, was exceptional, largely due to Cham’s outstanding leadership. His deep knowledge of wildlife, history, environment, and politics, combined with his organisation, adaptability, kindness, and empathy, ensured we felt safe, supported, and fully able to embrace every part of the experience. Thank you Cham and Intrepid.
