Important notes
verified
1. In late 2025 Cyclonic Storm Ditwah impacted many regions of Sri Lanka, disrupting train and restricting safe access to the Knuckles Mountain range. After conducting an in-person safety assessment we have been forced to make some itinerary adjustments on days 3, 4 & 5 for all departures up to 30September 2026. This includes replacing hiking in Knuckles with hiking in Dimbulagala and replacing the train ride to Hatton with a private vehicle transfer. See the day-to-day itinerary for more details.
verified
2. It is very important that you provide your height at time of booking so we can ensure that you have the appropriate sized bicycle when your trip starts. If you do not provide your height ahead of arrival we cannot guarantee a suitably sized bike for you.
verified
3. Some travellers have reported being approached by locals offering excursions before their Tuuur trip commences. This has been particularly prevalent in and around the hotels used by Intrepid. These guides are in no way connected to Tuuur and we cannot guarantee the safety or quality standards of their tours. We advise customers against joining any tour offered by the unauthorised guides.
verified
4. A single supplement is available if you’d prefer not to share a room on this trip. The single supplement excludes Days 3 & 4 (Camping). Please speak to your booking agent for further information.
verified
5. In case of weather conditions leading to cancellations or delays in the included outdoor activities, this trip will operate on an alternate itinerary.
verified
6. You do not need to bring a sleeping bag or sleeping mat. Your luggage will transported by vehicle and will meet you at the camp site.
verified
7. An e-bike option (at additional cost) may be available on this trip. We have limited numbers of these bikes available and they are an 'on request' basis only. E-bike hire only applies to days 6 & Our operations team will verify availability when a request is received and you'll receive final confirmation once the e-Bike hire is confirmed. E-bikes may be available locally at a lower cost, however availability cannot be guaranteed. Please ask your agent for more details at the time of booking.
verified
8. Please provide your full name and passport number exactly as it appears on your passport at the time of booking (including any middle names listed on your passport). If we do not receive your passport details in time, we cannot guarantee your train journey. Fees may apply for adding or amending details within 45 days of departure, and in some cases, you will be required to cover the cost of issuing a new ticket. Train tickets are in very high demand in Sri Lanka. We always try our best to secure tickets, but if we cannot book them, you will continue your journey by private vehicle.

Wonderful trip! Sri Lanka has so much to offer, and this was a great way to get an overview of the country. From riding our bikes through small villages, to exploring the amazing cities and temples, to swimming in the beautiful clear waters of the Indian Ocean, this trip is not to be missed!

Utterly jaw-droppingly amazing in every way! This was our first small-group tour and our only regret is not doing one sooner. Every detail was perfect and we can’t wait for the next trip!

An unforgettable Sri Lanka adventure with exceptional guiding from Darshan. The perfect balance of culture, nature, and authentic local experiences, from Sigiriya sunrise to lakeside camping and village visits. Thoughtfully organised, relaxed yet enriching, and full of meaningful moments. It completely changed our view of group travel — highly recommended.

Had the most fantastic time in Sri Lanka. Our guide Darshana really made the trip and the activities were all fun and challenging but not overbearing. We were really able to engage with the community in Sri Lanka and had a very authentic experience in nature, history and society. Would highly highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it.

One of the best tours I have travelled with Intrepid. The camping was my personal highlight offering showers and flushing toilets! Our guide and driver were excellent! My favourite Intrepid tour so far!

My husband and I did the Sri Lanka Hike/Bike/Kayak tour. Altogether the group was a great mix of 12 people from multiple countries. A good level of fitness and agility is required. Accommodation included 2 nights camping as well as 6 nights in hotels. Hotels were mid range and well located with excellent staff. Our tour guide and bus drivers were fabulous. All in all a great introduction and fabulous memories in Sri Lanka.
