Trip Informations
Uncover all the good bits of Vietnam on this ten-day adventure through backstreets, villages, cities and waterways, all with a local leader by your side. Trace the east coast and visit UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscapes while you fuel yourself with banh mi and condensed milk coffee. Try some authentic street food, wave to fishermen on the Mekong Delta and get the inside scoop on the best tailors of Hoi An. Take a motorbike through the ancient streets of Hue and spend a night on Halong Bay. This is an adventure full of life, colour and flavour that introduces you to the highlights of a fascinating nation with a small group of likeminded travellers.
Why you’ll love this trip
Fall in love with Vietnam one bite at a time – slurp a bowl of pho on a busy street corner, crunch into a breakfast Bahn mi and sit down to a vegetarian feast in a Buddhist nunnery.
Sail through Ha Long Bay's Heritage-listed limestone karsts and island caves, visit a centre that turns the bay's discarded trash into treasures and spend the night checking out the stars on an overnight cruise.
Travel like a local on a motorbike tour, riding pillion and taking in the historical pagodas, bridges and villages of Hue.
Embrace a slower pace during a private boat tour of the Mekong Delta and meet local craftspeople in the villages that line the river's myriad waterways.
Wander through the remarkably well-preserved streets of Hoi An's Old Town on a guided tour, where elegant wooden buildings line the canals.

An excellent whistle-stop introductory tour to the amazing country that is Vietnam. You will see some amazing scenery, have some amazing experiences on boats, trains and motorcycles but be prepared for some early starts and quite a strenuous itinerary. Visits to local craft centres and a family house give a real insight into Vietnamese people and culture.

Intrepid taught me so much about Vietnam, its culture and history, its future development and how warm its people are. Our tour guide Khang (he said we could call him Kenny to make it easier) was excellent. Fun and knowledgeable.

I was a bit skeptical about taking a guided trip as someone who mostly travels solo, but the itinerary, the group of people we travelled with, and our leader made this trip exceptional. It was so meticulously organized, we saw a perfect combination of cities, adventures, and local culture, beyond what I would have been able to plan myself. The hotel stays were all excellent, and the extra knowledge of each area our guide told us about brought the trip to another level. I highly recommend this itinerary.

I’ve been to a few tours by Intrepid and others and I’ve never met a guide as committed as Nhung. She made the trip much more enjoyable for us, she combines knowledge and experience with helpfulness, and she went above and beyond throughout the trip. Everything ran smoothly unlike any of my other trips.. Thanks Nhung.

Bin was an exceptional tour guide we couldn’t have been luckier! From the moment we arrived the trip was streamlined, jam packed with activity to a suitable exhersion rate, we were always comfortable, dietary needs are met and even when we had free time our guide made sure we got the most out of it, Bin even arranged some activities for us to help us out!
